DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The purpose of the Infrastructure Division is to effectively manage the Houston Airport System (HAS) infrastructure by establishing and maintaining asset management standards and effectively executing capital renewal and rehabilitation projects.
The purpose of the Semi-Skilled Laborer in the Insourced Maintenance Services department at Hobby is to ensure the airport maintains its annual operating certificate by performing key maintenance functions as mandated by Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) – Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139. These functions include but are not limited to, Pavement Maintenance, Erosion Control, Ditch Maintenance, Obstruction Removal, Airfield Mowing, and Perimeter Fencing. We also strive to ensure the airport’s roadways, esplanades, landscaping, and clear zones, are maintained to the highest standards, and represent Hobby Airport in a manner that is acceptable to our leadership team.

The Semi-Skilled Laborer duties will include but are not limited to:
- Performs basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities and equipment, i.e. housekeeping activities, fabrication and installations, routine cleaning and servicing of vehicles and cement mixing and preparation.
- Operates power and hand tool equipment.
- Performs painting, roofing, carpentry and plumbing activities.
- May operate vehicles to and from work locations.
- Monitors inventory control.
- Performs additional miscellaneous assignments as required.
The position requires extensive, near-continuous physical exertion such as repeated lifting of very heavy objects (more than 80 pounds), deep bending, climbing steps and/or assuming awkward positions. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
