POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Manager, Finance will be primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Financial Accounting close process and the reporting and analysis of results. This role focuses on driving robust financial reporting, analysis and forecasting processes providing value-added analysis and recommendations to support business success and growth. Applies a deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles to current and future business activities to ensure compliance with accounting standards, Corporate policy and internal control requirements. Support the needs of senior management and functional leaders for financial analysis in such areas as capital investment, new product development, cost savings initiatives and project proposals among others.  The objectives in this role will be achieved through collaborating with a virtual team of Finance Analysts and Principal Accountants.  This position will report directly to the Sr. Director Finance of the Refinery Valves business.

Principal Activities

  • Oversee the Refinery Valves Accounting close process by maintaining checklists, closing calendar, journal entry templates, and ensuring compliance by the Finance team
  • Perform quality control check of accounting entries to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance
  • Review preliminary financial results to detect potential Accounting errors, misstatements, cost overruns or other financial exposure
  • Review and approve account reconciliations in area of assigned responsibility
  • General Ledger maintenance: maintain chart of accounts and mapping to Corporate accounts, ensure integrity of period close, manage system updates, testing, troubleshooting of issues and recommending solutions in ERP system
  • Educate auditors on processes, set-up details, and intent in ERP system
  • Manage the upload of financial data to the local Financial planning & analysis tool (Adaptive Insights) and the Corporate consolidation system (BPC).  Reconcile reported results between systems to ensure they agree
  • Responsible for administration, maintenance and development of the Adaptive planning tool.  Ensure smooth functioning of the system.  Maintain and develop various reports and calculations supporting variance and trend analysis, revenue recognition forecasting and working capital modeling among others
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated results and reports, including variance analysis to forecast and plan, and provide insights and recommendations to Management
  • Provide in-depth analysis on financial performance and variances, interpreting results, and alerting and making recommendations to management on performance and any significant variances to plan and forecast for use by the Company for group, investor, and Board of Directors presentations
  • Assists the Sr. Director Finance in coordinating the financial planning and forecasting process across multiple P&Ls
  • Manage monthly update process for forecast and annual budget preparation
  • Work with and support project champions, leads or department and business leadership to provide monthly financial and transactional information in support of reporting efforts for strategic department or business unit-wide initiatives and projects as needed and assigned, i.e. CIRCOR Operating System (COS), Product Management, etc.
  • Provide support to strategic corporate initiatives and projects: presentations, complex scenarios analyses, financial modeling, etc.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and contribute to and drive Company projects, as required and requested
  • Responsible to adhere to compliance requirements for applicable regulations, internal controls and Corporate policies and procedures. Coordinate, resolve, and ensure financial compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Identify and drive FP&A related process improvements, and analyze processes and procedures to expose any information useful in improving operation efficiencies
  • Participate in and support external, required audits, and may conduct internal audits in preparation for external auditing process
  • Responsible for various closing activities on a monthly and annual basis
  • Serve as a change agent through developing and utilizing a thorough understanding of all aspects of the business to detect and evaluate trends, apply analytical thinking in forecasting, and provide insightful advice and tools to management for improving operating efficiencies, and business and financial practices
  • Develop and maintain regular communication strategies to elaborate on company financial performance for employees within the business unit
  • Occasionally present and explain financial and business information to company executives

Develop and implement financial acumen improvement training and tools to be utilized by supervisors and manager

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of PLM and CRM a plus

Education & Experience

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or similar field; MBA/CPA preferred
  • 10 plus years of progressive professional experience in finance roles with an emphasis on financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and ERP systems and Financial consolidations highly desirable
  • Excellent familiarity with Revenue Recognition accounting principles (e.g. ASC606)
