Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic HR Deputy Director who is preoccupied with big questions: Where do we go from here? What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

SUMMARY: The Human Resource Deputy Director will plan, lead, direct, develop and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

* Assists to collaborate with executive and senior leadership to advise, counsel, and provide coaching and resolution to address employees' performance as well as understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention
* Assists the Director of Human Resources with the functional areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to retention, personnel records, employee relations, job evaluation, compensations management, benefits administration, organizational development, workers compensation, safety, training, AAP/EEO and special projects
* Assists in maintaining a highly engaging culture, motivating employees, fostering an environment with high levels of teamwork, accountability, communication, and vision to employees
* Assists in administering various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures and updates as needed
* Assists to plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs
* Assists to administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
* Works closely Human Resources Director and employees to provide consultation and guidance to improve work relationships, build moral and increase productivity and retention
* Assists with determinations of discipline and terminations within the organization
* Additional job duties as assigned

Education & Experience

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred
* Must have over of 10 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues and in progressive HR roles
* Prior experience with Human Resources Management preferred
* Demonstrated leadership skills, both in influencing a complex organization, managing an HR department and change management required
* Prior responsibility in creation of business plans, budgets, and monitoring performance metrics
* Demonstrated breadth of experience and knowledge of human resources practices and processes (benefits, compensation, payroll, recruiting, training, administration, time and attendance) required
* Experience in start-up environment preferred
* SHRM-CP or PHR preferred

* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to integrate quickly into a small team and represent the company with integrity
