Recent projects our Consulting practice have engaged in include:

  • Identifying key industry trends and establishing strategic initiatives for a National Oil Company (NOC) to thrive through the upcoming Energy Transition
  • Benchmarking performance and capabilities of the Exploration branch of an oil operator, while identifying best industry practices to improve such performance
  • Executing a high-resolution portfolio optimization to assess key investments for a Latin American NOC
  • Identifying, prioritizing, characterizing and managing key initiatives for the operational transformation of an African NOC refinery
  • Helping establish the licencing round strategy and associated fiscal regimes to ensure attractiveness for a Latin American government
  • Working with a Latin American NOC to identify best industry practices and establish a negotiation process to cope with service companies costs through an uncertain price scenario
  • Establishing contractual alternatives to manage an accelerated field development strategy for a Latin American NOC

Job Description  

Role Purpose 

As a Consultant, you will play a key role in our growing Americas consulting practice, with involvement in all aspects of the consulting process, from shaping the opportunity, performing the analysis, and working closely with clients and Wood Mackenzie experts to develop insights that support critical strategic decisions. 

This role requires a high level of creative thinking and problem-solving abilities combined with sound interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate will frequently engage with and work alongside senior client teams. Minimal domestic travel may be required from time to time, as our new normality allows.

Main Responsibilities

As a Consultant at Wood Mackenzie, you will take ownership for the delivery of important parts of the assignment under coordination and supervision of your project manager:

  • Executing complex analysis of commodity markets and project economics
  • Support building compelling presentations conveying key messages concisely for a senior audience
  • Contributing to content discussions within project teams
  • Presenting your recommendations with poise and confidence to senior client stakeholders
  • Assisting other members of the team to ensure successful delivery
  • Taking a proactive role in the recruiting process

Qualifications  

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative or science discipline such as business, economics, finance, statistics, or engineering
  • 1-3 years' experience in management consulting, finance and/or a commercial/analytical role in the energy or natural resources sector
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
