Our studio is on the hunt for an experienced Systems Designer with a player focus. As Player Systems Designer, you will be responsible for working with the team to plan, prototype and build systems for player abilities and traversal mechanics, as well as showing demonstrable on-screen progress from concept to ship. Both theory and hands on work will be required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Promote collaboration amongst designers and directors, objectively breakdown design principles and provide feedback when appropriate
Work closely with Engineers and animators to produce clear, concise and fun mechanics and rules
Coordinate closely with Level Designers to communicate the goals and specific needs of player and traversal design and provide regular updates to all related gameplay systems
Design, adapt and scope features to the needs of production, the technical constraints of the project and the overall gameplay goals
Maintain, test, iterate features from concept phase to final tuning
Document player and traversal design clearly and concisely
Contributed to player systems and traversal design for a shipped AAA console title
Visual scripting experience (ie Kismet, Blueprint, etc.) in proprietary or commercial game engines
Understanding of animation systems or experience collaborating closely with animators
