ASSURSEC is seeking a highly motivated, flexible, organized, customer-focused, and detail-oriented
Systems Architect I - Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position is to support the
process such as design and develop new network products or major enhancements to the existing
network. Additionally, the individual should possess exceptional communication skills necessary to
lead discussions with Agency contacts and communicate with audiences of varying technical expertise.
The individual must be able to demonstrate success in defining the architecture of
computerized/information systems (i.e., systems are composed of software and hardware) in order to
fulfill specific mission requirements. Includes the breakdown of the system into components, and the
component interactions and interfaces (within the intended environment, especially the user), also
includes the technologies and resources to be used throughout the design and implementation phases.

This position as ASSURSEC offers the ability, for the right individual, to provide consulting
support to our Federal Client through operations across Continental USA (CONUS). If you want to

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation, management, operations, and enhancement of the NASA Continuous
    Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) tool suite
  • Manage network architecture, firewall strategies, design documentation, and evaluate/implement new network-based technologies
  • Lead discussions with Agency contacts and communicate with audiences of varying technical
    expertise
  • Works independently designing and developing new software products or major enhancements to existing software
  • Works as part of a development team in the design of highly complex software systems
  • Acts as technical expert, addressing problems of systems integration, compatibility, and
    multiple platforms. Responsible for project completion
  • Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management

Qualifications

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with network infrastructure device operations including
    Cisco/Juniper firewalls/switches, ForeScout CounterACT, and Gigamon, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing system and security administration for Linux and
    Windows based operating systems, including troubleshooting, installation, configuration,
    patching, and system performance monitoring and availability.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with security tool administration, operating system, and
    application hardening, and security control implementation such as DISA Security Technical
    Implementation Guides (STIG)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with scripting technologies such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, or
    VBScript
  • Knowledge of network architecture, communication protocols, and system-level requirements in
    support of medium to large Enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of network perimeter protection device architecture and operations such as routers,
    switches, firewalls, proxies, and web content filters
  • Knowledge of Network Access Control (NAC) concepts such as pre/post admission, agent versus
    agent-less, remediation, and quarantine
  • Knowledge of VLAN Trunking, VPN, tunneling, SPAN Taps, Port Taps, and traffic flow
  • Experience assessing and designing a secure network infrastructure, ensuring appropriate
    interconnections, LAN/WAN connectivity, and integration with existing systems
  • Experience generating and managing authentication and encryption certificates such as SSL
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning concepts, products, and remediation
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues in a mixed Windows, macOS and Linux
    environment
  • Experience in a virtualization solution such as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare ESX/Essig, or
    Nutanix Acropolis a plus
  • Experience with inventory lifecycle management a plus
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain technical documentation and drawings
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven environment; quality-driven, thorough and communicative

Certifications:

  • Ability to get CompTIA Security+

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT/IS/Computer Science required
  • Master's degree in related field preferred

Clearance:

  • Minimum of Public Trust
