Basic Function

Provide strategic advice and leadership on global financing strategy, policies and capital structure optimization. Executes the full spectrum of financing transactions. Takes a leadership role in interfacing with senior management, operational staff groups and the full array of functional groups in the CFO organization, other business partners within the Company and external financial stakeholders including relationship banks, rating agencies and joint venture partners.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Key contributor in formulating and executing global financing strategy and policies, including but not limited to shareholder distribution strategies, capital allocation and debt portfolio management
  • Key contributor in providing insight and advise to business partners within the Company and joint venture partners on financing and capital structure matters as well as valuation techniques
  • Monitors global capital markets with a focus towards optimizing the company's funding costs
  • Leads the cross-functional evaluation of financing options and makes recommendations consistent with the company's operational and strategic objectives
  • Assists the Director, Corporate Finance in maintaining global relationships with external financial institutions. Serves as a liaison between LYB's internal business partners and financial institutions facilitating presentation and execution of proposed strategies
  • Has expert knowledge of the company's debt agreements, including covenants
  • Leads the development of financing documents, including indentures, bank credit facilities, asset backed facilities, securitizations and leases
  • Leads the execution of capital markets financing transactions with external and internal parties
  • Leads the execution of corporate interest rate and foreign currency hedging strategies with external and internal parties
  • Leads due diligence reviews and capable to evaluate a data room of a potential acquisition
  • Participates as a subject matter expert and/or project manager in complex cross-functional projects interfacing directly with the Company's senior leadership
  • Maintains continuous working relationships with key members of Corporate Development, Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Legal groups
  • Assists the Director, Corporate Finance in coaching and developing other team members of the group
  • Participates as instructor in the Company's training initiatives
  • Ensures proper documentation and compliance for financing activities


Work Experience:

  • At least 10 years of corporate finance experience in the treasury function of a major multi-national company and/or banking experience with a major global bank. Candidates with less relevant experience but with an MBA from a highly recognized program, experience with a first tier financial institution and other high potential candidates may be considered; corporate development experience is a plus
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties
  • Knowledge of global capital markets
  • Advanced financial modeling experience required
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ability to conceptualize and communicate complex issues
  • Must be creative and thoughtful, yet able to manage details and reach a clear, concise conclusion in a timely manner
  • Must be able to influence decisions while driving consensus and alignment
  • Must be able to work effectively with executive management and senior leaders in cross-functional assignments
  • Ability to lead, develop and mentor less experienced staff
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing and presentation skills are a must as this position prepares materials directly for senior executives and board members
  • A superior understanding of financial theory and a demonstrated ability to educate and influence decision-makers
  • Ability to work effectively on projects beyond the area of expertise
  • Ability to identify interdependencies with other functional areas within the CFO organization in proposed financial strategies and drive projects to conclusion
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Bloomberg skills are required


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or other related field required; MBA strongly preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Chartered Financial Analyst is a plus
