The Enterprise Analytics & Data Management team is part of the Waste Management’s Digital organization. Our mission is to accelerate business growth and drive operational efficiencies by extracting insights from data, predicting business outcomes and embedding intelligence into business processes. As a leader of EADM you will deliver insights and solutions across the organization in areas such as routing, logistics, revenue management, customer experience, people analytics, business operations and more.

We are currently seeking a Sr Director Strategy & Portfolio Management.

I. Job Summary

The Sr Director Strategy & Portfolio Management will lead the advancement of data and analytics across WM. S/he will lead the EADM engagement team to work with senior executives to define an analytic strategy and roadmap that meets the immediate business need while propelling WM forward on our maturity journey to fully leverage data and analytics for business impact. S/he will be accountable for defining the portfolio of projects which deliver measurable business impact and year over year growth. The Sr Director Strategy & Portfolio Management will apply his/her knowledge of data analysis to solving real-world problems faced by our company and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams and business units. They will work with the EADM delivery teams in Data, Analytics, Reporting and Engineering to ensure the on-time delivery programs and projects within their roadmap. They will be accountable for the costs and benefits for programs in the EADM portfolio. They will forge strong relationships with business leaders helping conceptualize and plan for the successful deployment of deploy analytic solutions within the business.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with business executives to define the data & analytic strategy for Waste Management.
  • Identify priorities which lead to improved customer service, employee engagement, increased revenue, reduced costs while maintaining or exceeding Waste Management’s high standards and values.
  • Define strategic roadmap for EADM based on business impact and business readiness
  • Work with EADM delivery leaders to ensure the overall success and on-time delivery of EADM solutions to the business.
  • Identify operational improvements in EADM and work with the leadership team to implement improvements, remove roadblocks and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain strategic alignment within WM Digital organization.
  • Maintain portfolio alignment within the WM Program Management Office
  • Establish and maintain proactive and effective communications with key stakeholders on strategy/program/project status.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is management through one or more managerial levels. This includes both direct and indirect supervision of full-time employees including management and individual contributor positions.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Required : Bachelor's degree (accredited) in business, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics or similar technical discipline, or in lieu of degree High School diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years’ relevant technical discipline,
  • Preferred Master’s degree in business, economics, engineering, mathematics statistics or similar technical discipline.
  • Requires 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience engaging with C-level executives in forming a digital/analytic strategy.
  • Experience developing business strategy, business case and execution plan for achieving a vision for analytics.
  • Knowledge of data management practices and advanced analytics applied to business solutions.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing data and analytic solutions
  • Experience leading a team in digital transformation
  • Experience developing and implementing a transformation strategy with senior executives.
