DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The City of Houston Human Resources Department seeks a dynamic, independently self-sufficient, customer-focused, and technologically savvy Senior Human Resources Generalist. The candidate selected for this position will work collaboratively within the Human Resources Operations, Shared Services Division, supporting the Houston Health Department (HHD) as a business partner and point-of-contact to provide superior human resources services.
This position will be responsible for performing education/license and employment verifications for potentially qualified and selected candidates to ensure each applicant meets the City of Houston’s (COH) minimum qualifications. Processing, monitoring, auditing, and reviewing all personnel actions to ensure upload in the COH-SAP system. Performing organizational management functions in the creation, delimitations, and funding updates, which may require identifying the root causes of issues and providing appropriate solutions. Maintaining computer databases for reporting and compliance purposes weekly and assisting with preparing and coordinating special projects. Compiling statistical and employee staffing reports on turnover (hires, separations), division assignments, funding, and compensation for HHD management. Supporting daily human resources functions and performing other duties essential to the efficient operation of the unit as required to meet the needs of our internal and external clients.
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
