Mott MacDonald is looking for a Designer to join the team in Texas. Perform design assignments which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures associated with high voltage substation design. Good knowledge of CADD systems (AutoCAD or MicroStation) and standards required. Good electrical AC/DC fundamentals. Good knowledge of the major components of a substation.
Basic knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct a HV and EHV electrical substation. Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision. Calculate cable lengths, conduit fill or other basic tasks. Prepare bill of materials. Document control and issuing drawings. Mentoring / coaching / supervising less experienced CAD staff.
Ten or more years experience and a two year degree or technical equivalent, or ten to twenty years relevant electrical experience
- AutoCAD experience preferred
- Ability to create complex working-quality technical drawings
- Good knowledge of basic electrical AC/DC fundamentals
- Good knowledge of the major components of a substation
- Good knowledge of the types of drawings required for relay protection and control systems
- Good written and oral communication skills.
