About the Role:
The successful candidate will be an important part of the acquisition team, responsible for negotiation,
drafting and closing of real estate acquisitions. You will report to the Assistant General Counsel and
General Counsel, with the ability to advance to a leadership position and supervise others.
A minimum of six years of legal experience in real estate transactions. Previous experience working in
the public REIT or commercial real estate industry is strongly preferred. JD and license to practice law in
Texas required (or ability to waive into the Texas bar).
Demonstrated significant real estate transactional experience, including acquisitions and dispositions, mortgages, insurance, title, surveys, leases and real property diligence.
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret business-related real estate issues.
Experience with real estate acquisitions for publicly traded entities strongly preferred.
High degree of intellectual curiosity with exceptional work ethic, attention-to-detail and cando/will-do attitude.
Ability to thrive in the ambiguity that exists in a fast-paced startup environment.
Previous success delivering and driving results, as well as demonstrating creativity, innovation and collaboration.
Capable of independently writing clear, concise and error-free documents and developing original, creative and sometimes complex documents.
Impeccable integrity and judgment skills, to be able to make recommendations to leadership.
Ability to manage external counsel and budgets.
Ability to work with cross-functional/multi-cultural teams.
