Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center is an 881-bed quaternary care academic medical center that is a joint venture between Baylor College of Medicine and CHI St. Luke's Health. Responsibilities

Working as a RN Coordinator in our Heart and Lung Transplant Clinic offers a variety of clinical challenges to nurses choosing this clinical area.

Your care focuses on the medical, surgical and educational care of patients with advanced heart failure who are potential candidates for mechanical circulatory support. All patients who are on advanced forms of mechanical circulatory support and/or are being bridged to a heart transplant. You will interact with patients and their family as you advocate with multidisciplinary care teams.

  • Plan and render pre and post-implant care for the patient with mechanical circulatory support
  • Develop and prepare educational materials, and provide teaching and education to patient and their family regarding the need for mechanical circulatory support and the care needed post-implant
  • Accountable for leading the healthcare team with expert advice to case managers, nurses, physicians, social workers and other health-care members as appropriate
  • Evaluate and screen candidates who are referred for mechanical circulatory support in cooperation with a multidisciplinary team consisting of physicians, Fellows and members of Mechanical Circulatory Support

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Registerd Nurse

Five (5) years of related work experience in ICU or Transplant
