Role Summary\:

Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for a R&D Scientific Software Engineer with strong background in physics-based modeling software development to join our technical software group to develop Artificial Lift software for our sales and operations. Position is located at our facility in Tulsa, OK.   As a leader in the oilfield services industry, BHGE offers opportunities for qualified people who want to grow in our high performance organization.

Essential Responsibilities\:

  • Develop forward calculation engine for equipment sizing and simulation for Artificial Lift applications

  • Develop Artificial Lift inverse calculation engine for troubleshooting, physics-based model Auto-Matching and operation optimization

  • Develop Artificial Lift data analytics solutions

  • Conduct research on academic produced literature and evaluate the feasibility to implement them into legacy software   

  • Work with Artificial Lift engineers to obtain domain knowledge and requirements to develop into software solutions. 

  • Travel may be required for special projects and training.

     


Qualifications/Requirements\:

  • Masters Degree in Petroleum/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college / university

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in physics-based modeling software development focusing in oil and gas industry

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with .NET/Java programming

  • Working knowledge of Multi-Phase Fluid Correlation (MFC), Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid PVT Properties

  • Working knowledge of inflow and outflow performance for artificial lift application

  • Working knowledge of gas, emulsion and viscositys effect on performance of Artificial Lift equipment   

  • Strong mathematical skill is desirable. (Non Linear optimization/numerical simulation/machine learning algorithm for classification and regression)

    Desired Characteristics\:

  • C#, VB.NET, .NET/.NET Core, Java, Angular, PostgreSQL

  • Python/R for machine learning and advanced statistical analysis is a plus

  • Experience with TensorFlow, CNN and RNN for deep learning

  • Experience with remaining useful life (RUL) prediction for Artificial Lift equipment

  • Experience with time series analysis method such as ARIMA/SSA.

  • Experience with soft-computing method like Fuzzy Logic and Neural Network

  • Solid interpersonal skills

  • Exhibits a sense of urgency in carrying out tasks and resolving issues

  • Able to design, implement and support robust solutions

  • Excellent problem solving, time management and organizational skills

  • Able to self-manage and prioritize multiple projects / tasks at a time

  • Able to lead, inspire and facilitate collaboration between team members

  • Proactive in taking on additional responsibilities when needed

  • Demonstrates accountability and a strong work ethic
