Our client is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of offshore drilling and production equipment that is well suited for use in deep-water applications. The Company designs and manufactures subsea, surface and offshore rig equipment for use by oil and gas companies and drilling contractors in offshore areas throughout the world. They are making an investment of $20M in Machine tools to rebuild their manufacturing processes from the bottom up and cap for business unit.

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer Manager is a newly created position that will design, implement and review the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. You will be poised to lead the launch of taking new equipment to the next level in terms of CNC machining technology. The position offers opportunities to grow and advance, as well as leading, training and influencing others success within the organization.

Candidates Will Have the Experience Outlined Below:

  • Engineering Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Project Management - Cradle to Grave
  • Extensive CNC Process experience (Machining, Milling, Turning)
  • Expert CNC Programming, Tooling and Fixturing
  • Welding (MIG, TIG, SubArc, Clad)
  • Knowledge of probe technology, pallet shuttles and multi-tasking machines
  • Solidworks, G-Code, 3D modeling (DFM) preferably with ESPRIT Software knowledge
  • One piece flow, very complex parts
  • Assembly process(es) of large oilfield equipment
  • Coating (Phosphate, Xylan, Paint)
  • Demonstrated ability/skills for problem solving
  • Ability to work well under pressure/tight schedules
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, TEAMs, Planner, PowerPoint)
  • Proven experience of continuous improvement methods such as 5S, Kaizen, SPED, TPM, Just-in-Time, etc. is a must
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to teach and mentor, develop teams, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with ISO 9001, API standards, or similar like TS16949, etc.
  • Minimum 7 – 10 years progressive professional experience including discrete manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience in designing proven systems that integrate in one process the process manufacturing technology, from 3D design model, CNC program verification, tool room software and set-up, machine tool set-up and tooling standardization, automation, complete process control from a Manufacturing Engineering point of view of the process on the shop floor.

Basic Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to design new manufacturing and/or improve processes for various types of manufacturing including:
  • Identify new equipment (machines) or technology over current state manufacturing and improve efficiency (output and reduce scrap/rework) for higher output and improved quality
  • Interface and support various intercompany groups/teams (product engineering, quality, purchasing) to identify opportunities within these groups to improve overall quality and cost reductions for manufactured/purchased parts
  • Identify equipment (machines) within facility that are capable of producing specified geometry for routing of production parts thru shop.
  • Identify equipment/tools for inspection of geometry on machined parts for repeatability and accuracy of geometry. Identify critical dimensions/features on machined geometry for “on-machine/in process” inspection.
  • Work/support outside suppliers relating to company's manufactured products to identify/understand limitations and abilities of supplier base.
  • Identify/Design in process handling/lifting devices that meet HSE/OSHA lifting requirements. Be able to design/calculate load ratings where custom designed apparatus are required
  • Troubleshoot underperforming processes/equipment and establish an improvement method or repair
  • Perform basic statistical analysis of machine performance metrics do determine machine/process capability to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Understanding of different manufacturing processes including forging process, milling, turning, molding, casting, cladding, structural welding, heat-treatment, etc.
  • Knowledge of material sciences and different material coatings applications. Preferable experience in heavy equipment manufacturing, Engineer to Order environment with heavy emphasis on lean manufacturing.
  • Experienced in the application and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) as well as tolerance stack analysis.
  • Experience with dimensional and optical inspection equipment, ability to define control points and methods to ensure process integrity and FPY, Gage R&R, CPK and PPK, etc.
