Position Description


  • Bachelors Degree (finance or accounting)

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

  • 5+ years of financial modeling and planning experience in oil and gas industry (midstream preferred)
  • Must possess strong analytical, forecasting, planning and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of natural gas or NGL transportation (joint venture experience is a plus)

Primary Purpose:

  • Create, consolidate and analyze forecasts, budgets, long range outlooks and reporting packages for various assets in the Kinder Morgan Midstream portfolio

Position Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare bi-weekly forecasts
  • Construct and manage financial models
  • Coordinate budgeting activities, PwC audit requests and other requests
  • Prepare monthly actual vs. forecast variance analysis and investigate anomalies.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and other groups to develop the annual budget and long range outlook
  • Run contractual, operational and volume sensitivities
  • Develop financial analysis to support business decisions and capital expenditures
  • Frequent communication with various business segments and corporate functions to stay abreast of operational impacts on financial information
  • Look for ways to improve models and/or processes surrounding the planning process while maintaining the integrity of all financial information
  • Manage the financial planning activities for four KM Midstream joint ventures

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to solve complex problems and provide solutions-oriented analysis
  • Exhibit a high degree of initiative and is capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must be adept at communicating forecast, budget and actual results to management and accounting both in detail and at a high level, depending on audience         
  • Must be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management, and with those outside of the planning organization, in order to obtain data necessary to complete forecasting responsibilities
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, and processes
  • Develop and maintain good, working relationships with Accounting, Commercial and Operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook (Essbase is a plus)
  • Moderate overtime required throughout the year and significant overtime during budgeting process
