Description: Our client is currently seeking a Cost Accountant

Job Summary
The Project Cost Accountant is responsible for: 
  • Maintain Labor Costs for all Employees – Knowledge of cost accounting and how to develop a true labor cost. Good excel skills needed here. 
  • Recording All Costs to the Proper Job – This takes a strong knowledge of accounting and cost accounting. Combine your knowledge with your take charge attitude and you will experience success. 
  • Research exceptions – Strong understanding of job cost accounting. Ability to take charge and lots of tenacity is the key to success as well as ability to communicate with everyone throughout the organization. Must be able to adjust your communication skills to the audience. 
  • Monitor Job Progress – Report to management how the project is performing compared to budget/expectations. Can’t get nervous in these meetings. If you live the Boy Scout motto “Be Prepared” you will be seen as a rising star! 
  • •Pricing – This position will be involved in the quoting of projects. Understanding how jobs progressed, what went wrong and what went right helps the company bid the next project more competitively. Success on this task will be the ability to stay organized, filter data to get to the true costs, and strong communication with project managers, sales team and engineers will help the company succeed. 
  • Coding jobs to the General Ledger – You will be responsible for the flow of costs to jobs and properly reflecting them on the general ledger. Experience in general ledger and financial statement preparation will be your ticket to success in this area. 
  • ERP Conversion Experience – We use QuickBooks but we want to convert. The job cost accountant will be critical in our successful conversion to a manufacturing and service software. If you have done this before, you are moving to the top of our list 
Other Skills/Requirements 
  • Degree in Accounting 
  • 5+ Years of Experience in Accounting and Job Costing 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office including advanced skills in Excel 
  • QuickBooks (desktop & QBO) 
  • Experience in Global Shop and Salesforce a plus. 
  • Ability to thrive in the Oil & Gas industry. 
  • Ability to communicate with all types of people.
