Job Description:An Apprentice Construction Laborer has many duties on job sites that help the required work on the project run efficiently and effectively, including clean and prepare sites to ensure debris is properly removed, build scaffolding and other temporary structures, operate and maintain equipment, and dig trenches. The Apprentice Construction Craft Laborer may also assist workers from other trades with their work. These workers commonly lift heavy materials and trash. Mechanical skills are also important because Laborers can utilize equipment such as boom machines and jackhammers.Duties Include: Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders and other tools as directed by management, Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches, Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including asphalt and dirt, Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment, Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management, Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site daily, Report incidents immediately to safety director, foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company, Will always practice good housekeeping to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite, Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding property, Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment, Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.No experience required.Must be bilingual in English and Spanish to communicate with staff.Additional Information on EducationApprentice will work On-the-Job under the direction of a Supervisor. In-the-Class Training is required through Houston Community College in the evenings/weekends (TBD). Tuition will be paid by General Contractor BLOCK Companies.Will be paid weekly.
